Isla Taboga - A Nice Break from the City
By The Panama Gringo | August 5, 2008
Panama City can be a little overwhelming sometimes, and whether you are there for business or pleasure it can be nice to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Even if you only have a day you can still enjoy pristine beaches, amazing natural beauty and that laid back Panamanian way of doing things on Isla Taboga.
Isla Taboga is located 12 kilometers from the city, in the heart of the Panama Bay. Two ferries make several daily trips (check the schedule here), and a round trip ticket costs just
US $10.00. The ride out to the island takes just under an hour, and it is well worth the trip. You can spend the day out on the beach, the sprawling city skyline in front of you.
There are no cars on the island, but there are a number of delicious restaurants, and if you want to extend your day trip there are several high quality hotels. For more information check out this web site: Isla Taboga – The Island of Flowers.
