This past weekend saw the mark of price increases for some domestic flights in Panama.
Starting on Saturday January 31st, 2009, flights from Panama City to Bocas del Toro, Changuinola and David will cost to $80, a $10
increase over the previous $70 tickets.
Although it doesn’t seem like much in actuality it is a 14.3% increase.
Other flights that are increasing in price are flights to Kuna Yala (an increase of $5), flights to Darién ($3.50) and flights to Colón and Isla Contadora (a $3 increase each).
Many people are puzzled as to why prices are rising at a time when fuel prices are dropping. Panama’s Civil Aviation Authority explained that despite the drop in fuel costs, they have still had increasing expenses in other areas, thus the need to raise prices.
