Miraflores Restaurant at the Panama Canal

Things are changing at the Miraflores Restaurant, and all I have to say is, “It is about time.” In any popular tourist destination, there needs to be high end dining that represents the country, and it seems the Miraflores Restaurant at the Panama Canal Miraflores Locks Visitor Center has finally realized that!

The restaurant, which is operated by Hotel El Panama, is in the process of revamping it’s menu, and spiffing up it’s look. The structural changes will allow for more diningView from miraflores restaurant with a view, and the menu changes are focused on serving gourmet foods, using typical Panamanian ingredients.

Peruvian chef Diego Garcia is behind the menu changes, and is excited about rolling out a menu that showcases authentic Panamanian flavors, such as maracuya, raspado and coffee.

The menu features a large variety of seafood, and also throws in a number of dishes typical to Peru, combining them with Panama standards, creating some interestingly delicious flavors.

At present the Miraflores restaurant serves a buffet, which will still be available when renovations are complete, while the new gourmet menu will serve appetizers for about $15 and entrees from $25 – $30.

The Miraflores Restaurant is located at the top of the Miraflores Visitor’s Center at the Miraflores Locks. Call (507) 232–3120 for more information.
