In a happy turn of events, getting things worked out with my phone/internet plan at Cable Onda has been easier than I expected.
After I had the plans in hand that I wanted, all it took was getting in touch with the office. They said they could make changes to the internet and the TV plan over the
phone, but canceling the house phone plan would have to be done in person at the office. Not ideally the way I like to take care of things, but hey, you do what you have to.
It is interesting learning how to deal with Latin American businesses. As someone who has done a lot of traveling I have found that generally things are done very similarly across Latin America, which is very different to the way things are done in North America, and the majority of the 1st world.
None-the-less, I feel that if you rushed things and tried to make things happen on time, it would probably change the entire face of what we love about traveling southward from the States: the relaxed, easy-going way of life.
So, even if what we love about Panama becomes what we hate about Panama when trying to get errands and business done, we wouldn’t be here otherwise.
And eventually… business does get done… even if it takes a bit… a lot… an eon… longer than one would like.




Well our company does not recommend Cableonda S.A. For almost a year off having our office landline’s and Internet service in there hands, when we moved to a new location, they guaranteed that we could keep the same phone numbers, our business phone numbers known by all my clients in the new location. Yet this was false, they refused to install the service after agreeing and approving the new location and left us for a 2 weeks without telecommunication. Now we went back to the trusted old faithful cable and wireless for a lack of a better option.
Hi there, being a Panamanian the only thing I can say is that most of the business here won’t give you prices over the phone (in most shops), you can’t pay things over the phone, websites are minimalistic and they do not provide you with enough information and remember that if you want things done here in Panama you have to be there, that’s why most customer support will tell you that you have to be in one of their main offices, this is all because of the laziness of some people, we are not all like that but it is the tendency.
