Many people are attracted to Manolo’s restaurant because it seems like the best no-frills option, and it happens to draw a large tourist crowd thanks to being right by the Veneto Hotel and Casino.
Manolo’s can be good for a simple meal, the problem is the food isn’t spectacular and the prices are higher than what you would expect from a restaurant serving up typical Panamanian fares. Main courses cost about $8, while you can get a simple sandwich for under $5.
On the plus side, the menu is in English and the wait staff is bilingual as well. It is also a great place to sit outside, grab a cold beer, or one of the wonderful batidos (smoothies) or fruit juices.
Grab a churro for dessert!
Manolo’s is located on Calle 49B Oeste, in front of the Veneto Hotel.

Their sancocho is really good (chicken soup) as are the Cuban sandwiches. Love Manolo’s for late-night dining and inexpensive grub.
I ate there quite often on my monthly stay in Panama City, and the food was EXCELLENT! The staff was very friendly and always offered me differnt foods to try. Plus it was very convienent and I loved sitting outside watching the people walk by. The prices were very reasonalbe. I could eat a whole meal for under $10.
I first ordered the shrimp broth as it was not too expensive and I was on a budget. It turned out to be a favorite item on the menu. I could eat it all day long.
I wish I could get the recipe for this. I’ve tried making this from various recipes but can’t even come close to this.
