Bocas Del Toro Panama: Secluded, Tranquil and Breathtaking

Bocas Del Toro Panama is located in the western most region of the country of Panama. It lies about 25 miles from Costa Rica. The province of Bocas del Toro on the Caribbean sea and contains two national parks, many beaches, about 68 islands, lakes, river, one main Bocas del Toroarchipelago and several towns. Bocas is a beach lover’s delight and boasts many white sand beaches with sky blue waters without crowds of people. Many countries have filmed their “survivor” television series here including: Spain, France, Russia and Italy. Bocas has also been called a “biologist fantasy” boasting miles of rain forest alongside rivers, and beaches.

The cuisine in Bocas is very diverse considering the remote location of the area. The least expensive dishes will undoubtedly be the traditional Panamanian and Caribbean fare. These will include coconut rice, lentils, seasonal vegetables and freshly caught fish (typically corvina).  However, all seafood is fairly abundant and diverse. Lobsters, shrimp, prawns, sea bass (corvina), snapper, conch and octopus are among the most common and are often serves in curry or coconut sauces common in the Caribbean. The largest amount of restaurants are located in Bocas town and vary from traditional to, Mexican, Chinese, Spanish, American, Greek, Thai and Italian.

The speediest way to Bocas Del Toro Panama would be to fly into Tocumen International, next taxi to Albrook National Airport, then hop a short flight to Bocas. Tickets from Albrook to Bocas range from $90 to $110 one way. For those wanting a more scenic venture one could catch a bus from the Albrook terminal in Panama City and take it all of the way to Almirante, then hop a water taxi to Bocas town. While this option will save you about $60-$80 one way it will take about 10 hours, but may be worth the views.

Bocas Del Toro Panama has seen a vast increase in real estate sales in recent years. With its excellent climate, beautiful beaches and low cost of living one can easily see why. For me the best features of this tropical oasis is the slow pace of life and breathtaking scenery; however there are many other limitless qualities that the Bocas Del Toro province add to the already amazing country of Panama that are definitely worth seeing for yourself.

  1. Thank you so much, this was very interesting. I was actually born in Madrid (I’m not telling what year though!) but was moved around various parts of europe and finally settled in the UK when I was 5. I dont remember an awful lot of the few years I was in spain, but the smell of spanish food always seems to get me going or something. It’s weird how I dont remember anything except the smells, isn’t it! I actually found a internet site dedicated to spanish recipe, which gave me great delight and thought I ought to share. Anyway, thank you again. I’ll get my son to add your cast to my rss app…
